Technical Operators could go to a technical library and get free reprints of any technical articles that the BBC Engineering Division had had reprinted from many different sorts of technical journals and from manufacturer’s literature.
The source of these reprints was the Engineering Information Office at Broadcasting House (being that TV was this “Johnny come lately” and Radio was senior and superior!). Broadcasting House sent copies of the reprints to the Technical Information Office at Television Centre. This Technical Information Office was located at room 2145 – you could go past it on the way to the canteen (aka the Restaurant Block): but more often you would wander down to there during slack moments….
