It is with the deepest sadness that I pass on the news of the death of OB Camera Supervisor, Television Lighting Director and my dear friend of so many years Carol Sadler.
She passed away on Thursday in the Royal Marsden Hospital after a short illness and I know her many friends and colleagues in the industry and beyond will be greatly shocked and devastated by this totally unexpected news.
Carol’s brother John and sister in law Jacqui have asked me to let her many TV friends know and I have said I will collect any reaction and tributes to her posted on forums or Facebook and pass them on to the family.
She was a wonderful colleague and friend who excelled at every aspect of our craft that she undertook. She will be greatly missed by us all.

This is very sad news. I always enjoyed the times when Carol chose to come in from the rain and work in a nice dry TV Centre or TV theatre. You always knew you were in for a pleasant day when you saw her name on the rota.

What a shock this is.
Carol was recruited to Television Centre as one of the first two female trainees. Although slight in stature she immediately demonstrated that she was the equal, if not better, than any of her male peers.
As such she confounded all those sceptics of female recruitment to cameras and in effect made it easier for those like her who followed.
Quickly snapped up by OBs she had a stellar career and will, as you say, be sadly missed.
