Graham Giles

I first met him at the Stravinsky concert in 1965 when Stravinsky conducted ‘Firebird’ at the Festival Hall. (This memorable occasion is to be broadcast as a tribute on BBC4 next Sunday).

After such a steep introduction to live TV we became good friends and our families frequently socialised over the following years. Last year our final meeting was in Vienna when his autobiography was launched. We reminisced for a couple of hours about ‘the great days of TV’.

He gave me and our children musical experiences which I will always remember.
