Early German Television

Tony Nuttall

The Video, although in German, shows the Fernseh, Telefunken and Indirect Film units of Nazi Television in use at the Berlin Olympics. It shows the Fernseh cameras in Studio locations and there are even a few shots of the Indirect Film OB Units on the Autobahn! The other interesting shot near the end of the programme shows the TV Transmitter on the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Paris output was of great interest to us in the UK as it often showed the results of the RAF bombing missions in France. Fernseh AG was set up in 1929 by a consortium of John Logie Baird and Bosch!
