Crikey. Where there really that many versions of the ‘large’ AVO?

I think this is just a collection of some of the many varieties. I don’t know much about the large type (I have a smaller AVO 12D 81/1, ex-Post Office).

In my pre BBC days I used the big ones a lot when working in the R&D labs at GEC Wyton back in 1961 – 1963. A nice piece of kit.

They were still on sale new up until recently – and may still be. At something like 600 quid. A bit like a 4038 mic – something every collector of such things has to have.
I’ve got one (Model 8) – in its beautiful real leather case. Not actually used, since a 3 quid DVM is more accurate.
