When colour camera line up was undertaken, a pretty make-up girl was parked in front of the cameras for matching. I think she was referred to as a CLUG.

Her name was Lyn. She was indeed a make-up artist. They started by using actual live make-up artists, and this was stopped because it became a sporting pastime of certain cameramen to chat them up and make them blush! I remember being told by someone who seemed knowledgeable but probably wasn’t, that in the interests of colour accuracy, Lyn was printed at huge cost in 19 ink colours, not just the normal four.
More discussion about the CLUG is here.

I can’t remember if this was BBC or ITV.
Didn’t Equity complain about a non member being used in front of camera (i.e. makeup) so we had an Equity member for some time?
On the subject of line up charts, there was a bit on R4 the other day about some super black paint for artists’ use. Would have saved that felt lined box.
