Brian Blessed’s autobiography "Absolute Pandemonium" is an entertaining read and the details of his time on “Z Cars” and other dramas like “Cold Comfort Farm” for BBC TV are particularly interesting for those of us who were there.
He had a book signing at Jarrolds in Norwich recently, and despite the queue of fans, he made time for a good little chat about those happy days. A very nice and refreshingly larger than life chap, he also signed my copy of his book in a suitably nostalgic manner!

A little while we ago, whilst on a dayshift in Discovery TX, we spotted Brian Blessed in main reception. He was obviously in for a meeting upstairs somewhere.
One of the guys is a big fan of his and so waited by the lifts for him to return…which he did in about half an hour. Having a brief chat with him and explaining that we were all ‘fans’, he readily agreed to come in to TX for a few minutes for a chat. He was fascinated to see all the screens and channels and even asked a few pertinent questions.
One of us then asked him his thoughts on Bear Grylls. His answer is utterly un-printable here…
He had us in stitches. What a man.
