Barry Bonner found this picture in his attic: he thinks that it is Peter Hider in TC7 around 1967:

It’s certainly me (just look at dark hair!) but I have no recollection of it or which show it might have been on although the set looks somewhat LE. Does anyone recognise the set?

I was on Crew 14 as DO1 from September 9 1967 to December 31 1967 having finished a stint in Pres B. I checked my diary and we did no jobs in TC7 during that period.
Crew 14 did the following in TC2 :-
Date (1967) | Programme | Senior Cameraman | My Job |
9 September: | Juke Box Jury | Dave Mutton | Camera 3 |
3 October: | Talkback | Dave Mutton | Camera 4 |
10 October: | Europa | Dave Mutton | Camera 1 |
I can’t remember anything about “Europa” except that it was very boring – hence the crewing down!

More info from the negs, Steve Blatchford also on a camera. Wideshot of studio below. Maybe the lamps may give the answer.

Definitely TC7. The studio was first equipped with Marconi Mk IV 4½” IOs from when it opened in mid-1965 and retained them until it was colorized about three years later. It, and TC6 had those Marconi Mk.VIIs to start with, later replaced by EMI2001s.

I definitely remember the lights – they were the forerunner to the double ended lights eventually used throughout the BBC. The problem with these was that they tried to use one bulb to make both a hard and a soft source. The net result was they were no good as either! I seem remember various LDs ranting about them. I suppose the plus is that they learned from the mistake, and their successors were much better.
