Edius (real-time editing software) is very powerful – it can handle up to 16 video tracks simultaneously but who would want to shoot with 16 cameras and not use a mixer (or two) on site?

You’d be surprised. Shows like “Strictly Come Dancing” (SCD), “X Factor” (auditions more likely), “Dragons Den” probably record all cameras (with or without vision mixing). That is why SCD has so much coverage for the weekday shows.

If so, why haven’t we seen it either released on DVD (imagine what you could do in the menu with the alternate camera angles etc) or just shown on the telly?
