Pictures and notes by Mike Minchin

Peter Granger, Geoff Feld. Senior Cameraman, Crew 10, and his number Two.

Someone, rather naughtily, suggested I should add a caption – which I did, in the form of a “thought bubble” above their heads (with lesser “bubbles” leading from each of them to the main “bubble”) The text was “Now, how do I get rid of him?”

James Cellan Jones. Director of central batch of 7 Programmes. He went on to direct a number of prestigious shows during the ‘70s and ‘80s The surname has more recently become famous again through his sons.

Caroline Walmsley. Assistant Floor Manager.

Floor Assistant. Name forgotten

Chapman, Hulke. Set Designers.

Spencer Chapman designed the outer David Giles blocks of the show, while Sally Hulke designed the central Cellan Jones block. This was the first of Sally’s block, but I photographed them in a set designed by Spencer. I assumed at the time they were comparing notes.

James Cellan Jones (Director) with Jane Shirley (Floor Manager)

Chris Wilden, Al Tuson.

I have no memory of Chris, but from context I suspect he was a Sound Assistant (Boom Op.); Al Tuson was our Senior Boom Op.

Susan Hampshire. Actor: “Fleur”

Tyzack, Neve. Actors. “Winifred” & “Holly”

J.Whyte, N.Pennell. Actors. “Coaker, a maid”, “Michael”

Eric Porter doing his make-up on set, to the despair of Ann Ferrigi’s girls – they had to “modify it for television”.

Later Vision Mixer then Director?

Margaret Tyzack. Actor: “Winifred”

Suzanne Neve. Actor: “Holly”

Clifford Parish. Actor.

He played the clerk, Gradman, and was considerably younger than this make-up suggests. He used one of my photos (not this one) in Spotlight for quite a few years.

I think this was the Spotlight photo.

Julia Whyte. Actor. “Coaker”.

Nicholas Pennell. Actor. “Michael”

James Cellan Jones. Our second Director : 6 Episodes?
