There was a time, after the pioneers, and before it became just another commodity, that television in the UK was special. We all watched most nights, and talked
the next day about what we'd seen on first one, then two, three, four channels. Television programmes were an important part of our daily lives, and sometimes a drama
or a documentary changed the way the nation thought about itself. That time lasted from around the mid-1960s to the early '90's.
Two of the channels were run by the BBC, and every day the programmes were put on the air by the BBC Presentation department. It wasn't as grand as Drama or Light Entertainment
but it did a necessary job. This site is a bit of history, some stories, some fun and some nostalgia for those who worked there, and perhaps an insight for visitors into a department that could look
from inside or out as a large and often disfunctional family....
This will start growing as I get round to it, but just to get started, read some Pres stories on Page 2
