It's part of an Akai reel to reel. Still gets occasional use making tapes for the hard core classic car brigade. It only gives its best with decent tape. Not a surprise given the low speed and track width. And I've no doubt the very cheapest was used for those ident tapes - same as the studio 1/4" machines. Good for tying up the roses, but little else. In the day, BASF made the very best I could find. I do remember seeing a late one made by Woolensack. Used v.expensive chrome tape and Dolby A. This year's performance was remarkable for NOT having any camera (obviously) in shot during the fast-paced cutting, but the recap seemed to be a bit ad-hoc.? (OK here's the Song Contest - let's go and rot it up!) Like Nick, I'm disappointed at the need for vocalists to 'eat' the mike. Sports commentators in vision, now have their own handheld radio mic. Who started that one? Both BBC and ITV use this approach. Bah! Pat H On 13/05/2024 10:32, Nick Ware via Tech1 wrote: > We switched off after about the first 10 mins. It seems to have become the Eurovision video competition with the song a very minor interest. In the Brass Band competition world judges are hidden away in a tent so they don't know which band is playing. They then judge on the music they hear. As for Dr Who it is time to banish him to Gallifrey for ever!! Dick Blencowe On Mon, 13 May 2024 at 10:33, Nick Ware via Tech1 wrote: > We switched off after about the first 10 mins.
