Sad news, and memories of happy days in NC1.

Always fun to work with Geoff, although that now seems so long ago.

Condolences to Sue and family. Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Sue,

Kay and I are very sorry to hear about Geoff’s health issues over the last decade. We both have happy memories of working with him at TVC. He and I were in Pres Control the night that Diana died and his calm and professional approach is what I remember most about that turbulent (and very long) shift.

The picture you paint of a determined character enjoying a truffle lobster lunch and living life as he wanted is brilliant. Good for him!

Geoff and I were still good friends, and we had enjoyed a truffle lobster lunch a week ago, and I had rung him the night before he died to talk about our daughter Holly.

He lived his life exactly as he wished… and luckily died as he would have chosen too.

I remember very well our great fun times together working on NC1 and drinking in the Bar on he 4th floor… happy days!

Geoff had been very ill since he came back from London for the past 10 years… he battled it well, and was the only person we all know who moved from a nursing home 14 months ago to a very smart over 55s retirement home, which he loved!

A very determined personality!!

Thank you for passing on this very sad news. It's been a long time since my days in NC1 with Geoff but memories still linger. Geoff must have been having a tough time but this seemed untimely.

Sue Howard (neé Bird) has been in touch to let us know that Geoff Howard passed away yesterday morning at 11.30 am (Sydney time). Geoff had been on a complicated medical journey over the past few years and died in his relatively new home at the Belrose Country Club from a stroke whilst waiting for a taxi to take him to dialysis. No funeral date has yet been set.

We have lost a good friend and one of the best voices to ever grace BBC output. A true loss.

Sue is a member of this email group.
