{"id":3907,"date":"2015-07-21T16:46:59","date_gmt":"2015-07-21T16:46:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/?p=3907"},"modified":"2024-01-25T17:04:54","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T17:04:54","slug":"conversations-feb-2015-to-july-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/2015\/07\/conversations-feb-2015-to-july-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Conversations &#8211; February 2015 to July 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tech Ops people have been emailing about any and all aspects of BBC programming \u2013 current sound and picture quality, quality of content and comparisons with BBC reality and the spoof \u201cW1A\u201d \u2013 it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference!<\/p>\n<p>The Tech Ops site captures photos and stories that former Tech Ops people could share from the nineteen sixties and seventies (and occasionally earlier and later) \u2013 that is, during the golden age of television, when the BBC was the best \u2013 and most respected &#8211; broadcaster in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Some topics compare a \u201cthen\u201d and a \u201cnow\u201d (for a given definition of \u201cthen\u201d and \u201cnow\u201d), and so earlier and later photos and stories are included where appropriate and relevant. Destruction and sell-off of places we worked, and changes in the BBC way of doing things are also included.<\/p>\n<p>This set of conversations, then, does not capture <i>every<\/i> thread of the Tech Ops emails, so apologies if a favourite recent topic is not recorded here.<\/p>\n<p>++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n<h2>6 Days &#8211; the siege of the Iranian Embassy in 1980<\/h2>\n<p>A BBC Outside Broadcast unit was available, and captured some of the most memorable scenes of the siege and its resolution.
