I walked past the site last week.
What was that studio there?  
Was it ITV or independent? There is nothing on Martin Kempton\u2019s site.  http:\/\/www.tvstudiohistory.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All gone now, of course, but I also called into what was the Fulham Baths. This is now a ballet school, and really great, as they saved at least the front part from demolition or becoming nasty flats. Nice chat with people there as well. Lack of such places around nowadays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Granville Studio, a great place to moonlight for pocket money!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I once went there and bumped into a high up BBC lighting person who sternly asked me what the hell was I doing there. I replied “I won’t tell if you don’t!” End of story!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very odd vision system using a conventional TV camera locked to a film camera called the Gemini System.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember it well.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working there on the side opened doors for me once I fell out with John-John and decided to chance my luck outside the Beeb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owners of Granville went on to create Lion TV, in conjunction with Lion Films, which eventually became Trilion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can remember at Granville if a photographer appeared on the studio floor the crew all disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Engineer at ILEA was Walter Kemp, who had something to do with Granville\/Gemini (and HDF, I think), and was fond of regaling stories after a few drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I never really got him to explain how it worked, but there\u2019s an interesting pic attached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
