For some reason the designer on \u201cThe Hunchback of Notre Dame\u201c loved Fullers Earth and during meal breaks he’d scatter it everywhere. When we came back we’d get out the brooms and move it out of the way. When we got home we’d have to put all our clothes and ourselves in the wash.<\/p>\n

…and I’m reminded of another Fullers Earth story. On \u201cCyrano de Bergerac\u201d, also in TC1, there was some kind of a battle. Muskets, pistols, and Fullers Earth explosions. It all got a bit over the top, and Paul Salinger’s camera took a direct hit, which filled the turret lens hoods with dirt. TC1 filled with dirt too, and we had to go and hang around in the tea bar till it went away.<\/p>\n

Eric Porter was Cyrano, and he spent much of the time trying to seduce Mike Turner, apparently not for the first time<\/p>\n

David Brunt<\/h3>\n

\u201cCyrano de Bergerac\u201d (BBC Play of the Month , 1968)  was designed by Eileen Diss, apparently.<\/p>\n

Mike Minchin<\/h3>\n

I remember watching the designer Cliff Hatts from the lighting Gallery (?TC3) during supper break, ready to get rid of what he was laying down over our working area.  But my memory is that he was using something dark – possibly crumbled peat.<\/p>\n
