Where at TVC was this picture taken? A two story building in the background with what appears to be an asbestos roof? Greenery outside some gates?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I cannot place it, anyone any ideas?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was trawling the Internet for a photo late last night (see \u201c6 days\u201d) and this picture was all I could find.  Methinks it’s a pretty early pic – no “BBC” on sides of the cameras and no housing enclave built the other side of the wall on part of TA land.  Only Stage 4 (The Spur) would be up at this time. so would guess it’s round the back of TC8 on the ramp above the entrance to the news camera car garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m only guessing that the location was near the back of TC8 – originally, I thought it might be in that temporary car park where Stage 5 now stands (or maybe where it doesn’t stand any more!) and that the corrugated roof was on “Henry’s Hut” (I’ll only explain that if you’re really bored).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looks like White City Stadium in the background right.  There was an industrial unit just north of the centre so I\u2019m guessing that the building is part of that which would make it parked somewhere at the back of the Spur in the region of tech stores.  In fact I seem to remember seeing it parked up round there while the engineers did some work on the cameras at one point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now you mention “TA land” it all makes sense, I remember the large building now, we had to do a “Sykes” outside run there for some reason.  Yes, that must be the Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have an Aerofilms A2 sized photo of TVC taken around 1968. The corrugated roof building is clearly visible at the back of TC8\/Tech Stores.   So I can confirm that the News Unit would have been parked at the top of the ramp behind the Spur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
