Although I had only been in the Beeb for a couple of years, it is still one of the most memorable programmes I worked on. I have attached a copy of the camera script I have kept all these years along with a 7&#8243; reel of a recording the Sound Assistant did for me back then, (can&#8217;t remember his name unfortunately). The mixer was of course Hugh Barker and I was tracking the heron with crew 11, probably Ron Green was the supervisor who of course isn&#8217;t mentioned on the camera script! The tape still sounds as good now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Louis-Armstrong-script-002-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19583\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"post-19558-Nick_Ware\"><\/a>Nick Ware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Fascinating! My name isn\u2019t on the script either, but I was the Gram Op on that show, and I still have the audio tape to prove it! I say tape, but the original 1\/4\u201d was scrapped years ago, now preserved as a WAV file. Eight tracks including his closing band credits and reprise of \u201cHello, Dolly\u201d.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Band members that he credits on this recording are:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Billy Kyle &#8211; piano\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ronnie Catlip (spelling?) &#8211; bass <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tyree Green &#8211; trombone <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eddie Shu &#8211; clarinet <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Danny Barcelona &#8211; drums <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joe Brown &#8211; oboe <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  So there must have been more than one Louis Armstrong show.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  And please, folks too young to remember, it\u2019s Louis, not Lewis, though confusingly, in Hello Dolly he does sing \u201c\u2026this is Louis\u201d with and without the \u201cs\u201d.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Interestingly, none of the sound clips in that BBC radio item sound anything like my recording, so presumably not from the actual show in TVT.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n  Years later I got to know Michael Hurll much better at LWT.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br><br>\n<h1>&nbsp;<\/h1>\n\n<br><br>\n<p class=\"western\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1061\" src=\"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ianfootersmall-300x104.jpg\" alt=\"ianfootersmall\" width=\"300\" height=\"104\" srcset=\"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ianfootersmall-300x104.jpg 300w, http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ianfootersmall.jpg 348w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n\n<br><br>\n<!-- END Footer -->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Miles Item on \u2018Today\u2019 this morning.
