\n Towards the end of my BBC time he was No.2 cameraman on Ken Major\u2019s crew which for some time was also my crew \u2013 think it was Crew 16. I knew him quite well and liked and respected him.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n About 5 years ago this picture was posted on the \u2018Memories of\tTV Centre\u2019, I think by Maggie Partington\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n Smith. \u201cIt Ain\u2019t Half Hot Mum\u201d of course with Stuart seen 3rd row back second from left with the darkly clad Ken Major beside him. I was there but, camera shy as ever, stood aside.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n So sad to find those of us still around from those times are an ever diminishing number.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n I was very sorry to hear that Stuart had recently passed away. There are very few of us old guys left.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n I spent quite a bit of time as number 3 cameraman on Crew 16 with senior cameraman Ken Major when Stuart was number 2 on the crew.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n Sadly some of you may remember Ken died the middle of last year at the age of 90.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n We had many highlights on that crew over the years, probably doing the Morcambe & Wise shows with director John Ammonds in the 70\u2019s is certainly high on the list.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n Stuart was always great fun to be with, always jovial and with many stories to entertain you. He had a very distinctive laugh and I was always sure when watching Morcambe & Wise shows which we often see at Christmas on the Telly, with a bit of care I could pick that particular laugh of his out of the general laughter. I send my heartfelt condolences to Mary and all his family.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n I remember Stuart very well from when I was on Crew 16. I spent many happy hours on the boom on M&W shows just behind Stuart con cam.2. I rather thought that a joke made during rehearsals was kept in if both of us laughed! However Stuart was somewhat nearer.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n Stuart was also good humoured most of the time and helped to make 16 a very happy crew on which to serve. I attach a couple pictures of Crew 16.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n I was never on a crew with Stuart but worked with him from various pools from time to time. Always fun to be with. Had a brilliant day with him at the old TVS Gillingham Studios when the Beveridges and Wilcoxes took it over with their three new trainees. We eventually managed to coax five of the nine ex-Granada (I think) Marconi Mk. 9s into something resembling usable life on that day.
