{"id":13100,"date":"2022-12-06T11:36:42","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T11:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/?p=13100"},"modified":"2024-01-31T09:42:52","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T09:42:52","slug":"going-live-with-softlysoftly","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/tech-ops.co.uk\/next\/going-live-with-softlysoftly\/","title":{"rendered":"Going Live with &#8220;Softly,Softly&#8221; 1966"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Alec Bray<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a fictionalised account of going live with a fictional episode of &#8220;Softly, Softly&#8221; in 1966 &#8211; 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is an attempt to portray what it was like &#8211; and some of what was involved &#8211; for the Technical Operators (and Technical Assistants)  &#8211; in going live on air with each weekly episode of a multi-camera, theatrical style, live drama like &#8220;Softly, Softly&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, many other groups were involved in creating each episode, and their contribution are fully acknowledged: but this description concentrates on the Tecnical Operators and their part in the production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The majority of the first two series of &#8220;Softly, Softly&#8221; were transmitted live (58%): later series were recorded to Videotape at the same time and on the same day as a previous week&#8217;s recording was being transmitted &#8220;on air&#8221;.
