\nHospitality!\n

\nLG’s hospitality suite was named Sangers 35, but I don’t know why, to this day! I never got there.\n

\nThe Geophysical Year programmes had managed to obtain the services of the Duke of Edinburgh as presenter, and he was excellent.\n

\nAt the supper break, before recording, there was to be a reception shindig in Sangers 35, with all sorts of people invited, unconnected with the programme…\n

\n(There exists in the Film Industry, a 10 point list of the progress of a production. No.10 is "reward of the uninvolved")\n

\nHRH wasn’t there! Panic! Where was he…? Not in the dressing room, not in wardrobe, not in make-up, not in the loo.\n

\nNo – he had discovered that one of the sparks had served on his ship in the Navy, so he was drinking tea out of a tin mug in the electricians’ cubby hole in the studio!\n

Mike Jordan<\/strong><\/h3>\nRef Sangers Yard: do you think this was the company in about 1895 who are shown as \u201cTrunk and Portmanteau Works\u201d in this map and 35 may have been one of the factories there?\n

\nMost of the site was the station! Lime Grove Map<\/a>\n\n\n\n\n

\"sangers_2\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\nBy 1947, it was of course Gainsborough and the baths had appeared Lime Grove 1947-ish<\/a>\n\n\n\n

Alec Bray<\/strong><\/h3>\nI am getting worried … The first places I worked (BBC) \u2013 TV Centre, Lime Grove, Riverside \u2013 all demolished, all gone (TV Centre \u2013 well, half demolished). Where I went to college \u2013 C.F. Mott College of Education, Prescot, Liverpool \u2013 demolished, flattened completely, now a housing estate.  The pub we students used to go to, the \u201cHillside Hotel\u201d \u2013 flattened.  The school I taught at \u2013 Ashmead School, Reading\u2013 well, half of it fell down, the rest was pulled down ..  Help!  Is destruction following in my wake?  \n\n
